After 1 week of sales, Jay Z ‘s new album “The Blueprint 3″ has only sold 465,000 copies according to Soundscan. Also if you’ve been paying attention Jay Z used all kinds of tactics to ensure that he would outsell Lil Wayne according to an anonymous source. First he scheduled to release the album on sept 11th which became an extremely controversial topic for obvious reasons. He used several tactics to ensure maximum publicity with hopes of high record sales. After the press tackled the topic he and had fans anticipating his album , he then decided to drop his album three days prior to release on sept 8th hoping to spark a rush in the retail stores from his dedicated fans. He planned a performance so big on such a catostrophic day that some people actually were offended and some forgot about the 9/11 disaster that day completely. Sure he incoorperated a rememberance tribute , but that was all apart of his agreement with the state whom allowed him to do it along with donating to charities leading to the fuse televised deal. Jay Z is an extremely smart and talented individual. But as of 2009 Lil Wayne “Runs this town tonight” . Lil waynes “carter III sold over million in one week of sales without the publicity stunts, without the huge stadium & internationally broadcasted concerts but simply because he’s the greatest rapper alive !
